Zia was written for virtuoso harpist Zia Nizin, and is a work composed for the resonances of the harp. Silence, or 'near silence,' is prominent feature of the work. ZIA allows for improvisation on the part of the harpist, providing many paths through the musical score. The result is subsequent performances of ZIA will differ. Always the same, never the same way.
